UbuntuNet Alliance is the Eastern and Southern Africa’s Research and Education Networking organization aiming at supporting the data communications needs of the research and education community region. The Alliance is building a dedicated high speed data communications infrastructure interconnecting National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in the region to each other and connecting them to other regional Research and Education Networks worldwide. Rolling out the regional network

The AfricaConnect project is rolling out the regional copmponent of UbuntuNet, establishing a high-capacity Internet network for research and education in Southern and Eastern Africa to provide the region with a gateway to global research collaboration. The project will last four years and will consist of two phases, the first of which will be to plan and procure the network and is expected to last up to twelve months. Read more >>

UbuntuNet Alliance is an partner in EU FP7 projects. At present, the Alliance ia partner in CHAIN-REDS and eI4Africa projects.
