Iman Abdelrahman holds a PhD. and an MSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering ( University of Khartoum, Sudan), and a B.Sc. in Electronics and Telecommunications, (Cairo University, Egypt). She is a member of the IEEE from 1998 and a member of the International Institute for Women in Engineering in France , worked as Coordinator of North Africa and the Middle East region (2002-2005) http://www.epf.fr. She is a member of the Board of Directors of UbuntuNet Alliance from March 2009. In the national level she is a full member of Sudan Engineering Society (SES) and a member of many consultancy committees working for the e- government projects.
She is now the CEO of the Sudanese Universities Information Network (SUIN) and the Director of the Information and Communication Technology Department of the Ministry of Higher Education in Sudan. She worked for the University of Khartoum (1999- 2006) as Assistant Professor. In the University of Khartoum she worked as Member of the University Data Network Committee and a member of the Computer Science Advanced Library Committee. She also submitted the proposal and managed the project of the Sudan Engineering Virtual Library which is funded by UNESCO and the University of Khartoum in 2004. http://sudvel-uofk.net/
She also worked as telecommunication engineer in the Operation and Maintenance Department of Sudan Telecommunication Public Corporation ( named Sudatel after privatization) from (1982 -1994), and as a First Planner in the Planning Department of Sudatel in 1994.
She managed many project such as the automation of the personnel and financial systems of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in addition to the Electronic Archive of the executive offices. She also managed many website projects such as the Website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the website of Sudan Engineering Society http://ses-sudan.org Both of the websites include full text digitization of its publications.
Voluntary work: She is the founder and the leader of a non for profit society “The Sudanese Women in ICT” http://sswict.net/ which is not yet registered as NGO.
She was born on the 1st January 1959, and is married and has one girl and two boys.
