| The Chairperson of UbuntuNet Alliance, Professor
Zimani Kadzamira, is pleased to announce to all Participating
NRENs through their Representative Members that the 2nd Council
of Members Meeting will be held at Holiday
Inn in Lusaka,
Zambia on 18th April 2008. The 2nd Council of Members Meeting
will be held in accordance with Article 17 of the Articles of
Association of the Alliance. The Council of Members is the
decision making body of the Alliance and it sustains the will to
collaborate regionally. As in the case of the 1st Council of
Members meeting held in Nairobi on 23
February 2007, Observer Members are also invited from
Project Teams in the region that are working towards developing NRENs in
their respective countries.
The 2nd Council of Members Meeting will be preceded by the
launch of ZAMREN, the Zambian Research and Education Network on
17th April 2008. The ZAMREN launch will include an Experience
Sharing Workshop between the UbuntuNet Alliance Board and the
ZAMREN Team.
On the morning of the Council of Members meeting day, there
will be a short NREN workshop to discuss progress of NREN
development in the region and to share experience and lessons
learnt.
